Join us for the 2026 Span of Control Series!
In 2024, Nursing Catalyst launched a national benchmarking study to examine nurse manager span of control across leading U.S. health systems. This research identified the key administrative and operational drivers of nurse manager overload and established a data-driven foundation for frontline role redesign.
In 2026, this work continues through a multi-part series exploring how health systems are putting those insights into action. Across sessions, Nursing Catalyst will share case studies and emerging strategies for redesigning the nurse manager role, examine how AI and technology solutions can reduce administrative burden and support span-of-control goals, and facilitate candid peer exchange among nursing leaders navigating this work. This series will include both Candid Conversations — featuring technology solutions from vendors and their health system implementation partners — and a leadership huddle session where nursing executives will explore role redesign strategies and peer approaches.
