Recently, several federal agencies and members of Congress have sharply increased their scrutiny of health systems, linking the health system business model to rising healthcare costs and other hotbutton issues in healthcare. Announcements and actions undertaken by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), Department of Justice (DOJ), Senators, the Department of the Treasury (Treasury), and private advocacy groups all indicate a worsening attitude towards the large non-profit health system model.
