CMMI recently unveiled a new proposed alternative payment model that aims to connect Traditional Medicare beneficiaries undergoing certain surgical procedures with primary care support services.
Under the mandatory model, the Transforming Episode Accountability Model (TEAM), selected hospitals will assume responsibility for cost and quality of care for certain surgeries through the first 30 days after the patient leaves the hospital. Hospitals receive a target price intended to cover all costs, including inpatient stays, SNF stays, and follow-up visits.
