So far in 2025, the U.S. economy has added an average of 64,000 healthcare jobs per month—an outsized share of the nation’s overall 74,000 private-sector jobs created monthly. 

In other words, healthcare is driving nearly all of the country’s net job creation. That growth underscores both the sector’s economic importance and its structural challenge: even as organizations add workers, workforce shortages, cost pressures, and productivity concerns remain unresolved.
