Last week, congressional leaders unveiled a bipartisan healthcare reform package tied to government funding legislation, setting in motion a series of “must pass” votes this week that could revive a slate of stalled priorities.
Lawmakers have until Jan. 30 to fund the government. The legislative package passed the House last week, but stalled in the Senate over Democratic objections related to funding for immigration enforcement. While this legislative impasse isn’t expected to alter the bill’s healthcare provisions, a full or partial government shutdown could occur if Congress fails to move by the end of the week.
