Last month, gene therapy pioneer Jim Wilson announced plans to leave his position as director of the University of Pennsylvania's GTP to launch two new companies: Gemma Biotherapeutics and Franklin Biolabs. Wilson had founded the GTP as the first and largest gene therapy program after coming to Penn in 1993.
