Fall 2024 HEA Leadership Activation Series: HEA Members Gain Strategies to Influence Through Data

The key to influencing change at your organization and in your community is to present clear data and demonstrate your outcomes through an impactful, concise approach. The second session of the Fall 2024 Health Equity Alliance (HEA) Leadership Activation Series provided participants with the necessary tactics to execute this leadership strategy.

The HEA Leadership Activation Series is a leadership development program for health equity leaders that dives into the leadership strategies necessary to gain executive buy-in order for the advancement of health equity in their organizations and communities. HEA Members nominate leaders from their organization to participate in the virtual series. HEA offers the program to two cohorts a year (Spring and Fall). During the second session of the Fall 2024 Leadership Activation Series, HEA invited healthcare executives to discuss with our participants the strategy and communication needed to make change in the health equity space.

Strategies We Covered During This Session:

  • Proper governance and intentional data collection strategies are key for successful data-driven initiatives. During this Leadership Activation session, Tammy Winterboer, PharmD of Nebraska Medicine broke down her team's systemwide data management and governance strategy. Dr. Winterboer provided a step-by-step overview of how Nebraska Medicine built their data structures, outlining both their successes and lessons learned.

  • Data is a powerful tool that can contribute to community health, as well as the financial health of your organization. Determine how you can utilize data to identify the key drivers that positively impact both patient health and organizational priorities. Susan Cooper, RN of Regional One Health reviewed with our Members several case studies from her health system outlining challenges they solved by utilizing data to communicate challenges and drive outcomes.

  • Nominations for the 2025 Cohort Open in January: HEA Member organizations will soon be invited to nominate leaders from their organization to participate in the Spring 2025 cohort of the Leadership Activation Series. We invite HEA Members to begin considering their nominees.
